United Indian Health Services (UIHS) is a non-profit tribal health programme founded in 1970 by local Tribal leaders and community members. It serves the American Indian and Alaskan Native population in Humboldt and Del Norte counties in Northern California, providing healthcare that integrates traditional tribal healing and spiritual practices with modern medical services.
The organisation operates a comprehensive health system that includes medical, dental, vision, behavioural health, and pharmacy services. Its programme portfolio extends to community health education, nutrition counselling, wellness initiatives, maternal-child health support, diabetes prevention, youth development, elder support, and substance use recovery.
UIHS is dedicated to a holistic approach to health, addressing mind, body, and spirit while respecting and reflecting Native traditions, values, and voices. The organisation serves thousands of clients and is committed to preserving cultural heritage within its healthcare delivery.
